Digital Coma

3 Dec
I have fallen into a Digital Coma. An iPhone Coma to be exact.
I’ve recently come into possession of an iPhone. A lovely treasured loan from a treasured friend, but perhaps due to a slight underestimation (and I say slight because what the heck, even I didn’t expect it of myself!) of my compulsive button-pressing, photo-taking, button-hitting – a monster is birthed!
And one of the very dangerous symptoms of iPhone Coma is the time that goes missing. The time which, literally in the blink (or blinks) of an eye (mind’s eye or not is debatable) that disappears into a black hole.
On bus rides, I used to look out the window & pray. But now, one glance at my iPhone and thereafter I don’t know where I am, what time it is, which world I am in. Perhaps this digital smartphone-inane world needs a much younger mind & body to get used to. And my manners seem to have gone flying out the window too, typing away at cashier’s counters and at meal times. Please pardon me. I promise to correct my ways. 🙂
It’s not all bad of course. I have noticed that I now notice a lot more around me, moments I may not have noticed before (or didn’t have the means to capture quickly)g. A new secret compartment in the usual drawer of the imagination has been found and many new and exciting visuals spring forth.
But to rein it in, I need Him who reigns to remind me of who exactly is in control.

It is a dangerous but exciting digital world and I am excited to explore. So if I have been out of action for a while, please please forgive me.

On the other hand, if you’d like to see what damage shupg has done on Instagram, please follow us!
I hope to at least come out of iPhone hibernation more often and for longer periods of time.

You’ll see more of us yet in 2013! Happy Holidays everyone!

cheers,

Sshhh….. a little quiet time please

25 Mar
Don’t you sometimes wish you could say “Sshhh!” There’s just so much going on all the time, it’s almost impossible to find a few seconds of real silence when you can think, breathe and re-fill.
I used to think I’m a super-multi-tasking-person. But I think as I age, the importance of some quiet time of my own supersedes everything else. Even for a few seconds, to go somewhere deeper and to just be.
I look forward to quiet time everyday. A little time of silence so His word can be heard.
How do you find your own piece of heaven here on earth without physically going anywhere?

I "Felt"

24 Mar
In a world where everything zooms past you at an astounding speed, there’s often a lack of sensitivity – a sensitivity for something deep within us. A peace that comes with a calm contentment and a great joy that bubbles over. I only just realised that a few years ago. No matter how much I searched for this feeling in the physical or material, only God and our Lord Jesus could offer this to me – and all for free.  I gave nothing for He first loved me – unconditionally.
Have you stopped your life in your tracks and truly searched your hearts to see if you have been entirely honest with yourself? Do you truly feel? Or is everyday spent in mostly a rush of mixed emotions?

“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.” – Psalm 23:2
I felt. And now I feel.

Laced Pretties

22 Mar
Which girl doesn’t like a bit of lace? Even though I can’t really wear lace because it just isn’t my style, I do like to see it on others and here’s sharing a bit of those.
Conjuring up images of a relaxed, countryside with pastel polka-dotted curtains and green potted plants in white handmade hanging vases. A birdhouse in the garden and an old rocking chair on the patio.
*Please do note that all metal hoops and studs/backings are made of metal alloy. I’m not entirely certain they are nickel-free.
But if you need them to be, let me know and I’ll source them for you (costs will be adjusted accordingly).
