Shupgshop.com – The long wait

31 Jul

photoWe started out from a small corner of the room. And the corner’s still there, just a lot messier and it has taken over the three other corners. But we are still thankful for the encouragement we have had from our customers, old stalwart friends and newfound ones.

From etsy.com to our blog, and now our own shopping site . We have gone through piles of materials, discarded even more and had series succeed and failed.

We are small and quiet. But we like things big, funny and bold.

But most importantly, we are blessed to be able to do this in the first place. Every day, every minute in gratitude. Here’s to staying strong in thankfulness.

Thank you for traveling this journey with us. It has only just begun!

Shiny Glowing Spring Raindrops

23 Mar

It’s Spring!

2013-03-19 11.36.14Of course, here in Singapore it’s almost ever summer. But we can dream, we can imagine, we can pretend, can’t we? Even if it’s just for a brief moment, a glimmer of colour, a pastel raindrop. We can share the rest of the world’s joy, sorrow and in slightly more than a weeks’ time, the pain and glory of Jesus Christ.

Easter indicates a glorious spring, but it also points to something so much more important. Something so painful it’s rectification is so beautiful.

We are preparing to grief together with Christians worldwide. And then to dance and Rejoice with abandon.

Our thoughts are feelings are reflected in these new brooches ($29 and $33) at shupg. Where birds, owls, and raindrops are set free and look up into the clouds, into the skies, into Heaven.

Have a thoughtful Holy week and a joyful Easter weekend!

Am having sudden attraction (or rather, a renewed one) to ethnic designs and drawings.
Had so much fun putting shapes together and forming new shapes – exhilarating!

What is your secret day job?

6 Jul
In this day and age, it’s possible to have a day job that feeds your body…… and another secret day (or night!) job which feeds your soul.
Of course you’ll lucky if your day job feeds your soul too! But I’ve come to accept that you can have many sides to you, and if you know how to manage all these aspects of yourself, then you’re not that far off from being content (and perhaps having more time to think about others rather than just me, me, me).
These new brooches are for those soul-feeding day jobs (secret ones included!). And they are all in stock at my little space in Dulcetfig! Will be putting them up for sale in my etsy shop soon too, keep an eye out for them 🙂
I know there are so many of you out there! 🙂
video editor, fashion editor, beauty editor, newspaper editor – respect!
Music feeds my soul. Does it feed yours?
Read a friend’s facebook post about having some quiet time… gotta love it.
Ever wish you could say that out loud to someone but never quite had the guts?
Having been one, I know sometimes I wished I could SCREAM this! 😛
They’ve got a tough job.
Enjoy folks! And I am always open to suggestions of what occupations to put on these brooches.
Leave me a comment! 😀

flowing language

5 Apr
I remember learning ASS (American Sign Language) just after college at a YMCA, and I loved it. The beauty of the language and the culture, the perseverance of a great people. Then I volunteered with the hearing-impaired through university. And now, even though I don’t get to practice it much (I read a lot slower than I sign!), I still love the meaning and the flow in their hands when they sign.

Seek Ye First

21 Mar
Awoke this morning with these 3 words ringing in my ears again: Seek Ye First.
Seek – what attitude do I have when I come before the Almighty? Am I too casual? Yes He is a friend, but He is also to be revered and worshiped. Am I seeking or do I take Him for granted. Prayer is a privilege, not a burden, nor a tool.
Ye – Who or What do I seek? Treasures of this earth that will be eaten by moths or die away? Even my physical body or gifts I think I am blessed with… these are nothing compared to His glory. To Him.
First – What are my priorities? Is it Him or is it something else or someone else. First, not second, not later. Now and First.
Faith is a seemingly obscure element, much like the word “Believe”, but it can grow. How do you nurture it? From a mustard seed, a tree can grow. Have faith in your faith, and water it well.
Mustard Seed of Faith Brooch – $24.

Lovingly made of wooden branch sections and a bit of plastic.

“I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
– Matthew 17:20
